How long have you been working in the real estate industry?
Almost 9 years
How did you get into real estate?
I started in real estate because I was bored, and thought maybe I could sell a house or two here or there. I thought it sounded like a fun hobby, something to keep me busy.
What was one of your greatest challenges starting out? How did you address it?
When you start in real estate, you literally don’t know what you don’t know. I was blessed to have an amazing brokerage and support team that taught me everything I needed to know.
What support or advice did you find most helpful when starting out in the industry?
Be honest, be hard working, and be yourself.
What do you enjoy most about working in real estate?
All the dogs I get to meet at listing appointments. Also, helping my clients buy just the perfect home, especially when the road has not been easy.
What is your proudest achievement or favorite memory working in real estate?
I sat on the RASCW Board of Directors for three years.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone new to the industry, or someone considering real estate as a career?
It isn’t as easy as television makes it look. Real estate is HARD work.
How has being a member of RASCW benefited you? How has attending association events or being involved helped you further your career?
Understanding what the association does for us, and how hard the staff works to serve our membership made me realizes all the nuances and all the benefits that we receive, without even knowing it. From education to mediation, from Supra access to minority scholarships, RASCW is an amazing benefit to all of us!
How are you involved and making a difference in your community?
Community involvement, and most specifically volunteer work, is something that has always been important to me. I firmly believe in both giving back AND paying forward. I currently sit on three boards of directors, and direct all or part of three other major events. I specialize in running (three to four a year!) charity silent and live auctions, and my real estate connections have become amazing partners for the charities that I serve. From dog rescue and humane dog training to Ironman Wisconsin; from mental health, homelessness, and substance abuse, to learning and education, I am honored to support and raise up people in my community. As faces made more visible by real estate, we have a larger platform and a louder voice with which we can make a difference.
If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, alive or not, who would it be?
Winston Churchill
Outside of work, what makes you happy?
Dogs. I am fairly sure that anyone who has ever met me already knows that.
