How long have you been working in the real estate industry?
26 years
How did you get into real estate?
Growing up, my best friend’s dad owned a real estate company and I was always intrigued with the things he would talk about. I chose a different career path initially, but 14 years later I finally made the decision to pursue a career in real estate and I LOVE it!
What was one of your greatest challenges starting out?
Finding clients. Things were different then without social media. It was all about who you knew, getting the first deal, knocking on doors and hoping for referrals.
What advice did you find most helpful when starting out in the industry?
The relationships you build will not only build your business, you will make great friends along the way. One important piece of advice I was given was to always answer your phone. So simple but necessary!
What do you enjoy most about working in real estate?
It’s 100% helping people and getting to know them. I have so many fun and crazy stories, I should write a book!
What is your proudest achievement or favorite memory in real estate?
I could say awards I’ve received, but honestly it was working with a middle aged first-time home buyer who never thought she could own a home. That brought me so much happiness.
What advice would you give to someone new to the industry, or someone considering real estate?
It’s not for the faint of heart. Also, it’s important to get the proper training at the start of your career. The more you learn, the more you earn!
How has being a member of RASCW benefited you?
The networking opportunities are at the top of the list. Learning from others and the association will make you a better Realtor®.
How are you involved and making a difference in your community?
I have made a huge effort to be involved in my community and I honestly enjoy every minute of it! I have been a board member for various organizations, including The Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce. I am a current member of the Baraboo Economic Development Commission. This truly gets you in touch with what’s going on within the community, develops strong relationships and is our opportunity to give back to the cities we have chosen to make home.
If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, alive or not, who would it be?
My dad.
Outside of work, what makes you happy?
100% my family!
