How long have you been working in the real estate industry?
Twelve years.
How did you get into real estate?
Starting my real estate career in property management, I worked my way up through several roles. From regional management working in five states representing investors’ apartment complexes, I developed a passion for selling real estate. I continue helping investors buy and sell property locally, and offering boutique property management services. The heart of my business is helping people buy and sell their residential homes. It’s truly my passion, and I’m grateful to say I love what I do every day!
What was one of your greatest challenges starting out?
Building a strong enough client base to maintain a full time real estate sales career. Offering my services sincerely allowed me to quickly take my business full time. In genuinely desiring to help people with their real estate needs vs being a “sales” person, I’m proud to say this came naturally in a short period of time.
What support or advice did you find most helpful when starting out in the industry?
Persistence is key when following the dream of being a full time realtor. Building a business in this industry takes time, dedication, and hard work. If you continue to put yourself out there, your services will be utilized!
What do you enjoy most about working in real estate?
In many cases, a real estate transaction is one of the most important purchases in a person’s lifetime. I enjoy being part of such a monumental process for my clients. While exciting, it can also be a lot of work for the client, and overwhelming at times. Being their needed resource, advocate, and advisor through the process is an absolute honor! I also look forward to growing further within the industry over the course of my career – I’m currently studying to take my Brokers License Exam. As time goes on I’m always seeking new opportunities to learn and expand ways to best represent my clients.
What is your proudest achievement or favorite memory working in real estate?
My proudest achievement has been making so many strong friendships with my clients. I’m thankful for the lasting relationships that go well beyond the closing table.
What advice would you give to someone new to the industry, or someone considering real estate?
Operate your business with honesty, integrity, and hard work. The reputation that follows you will support your business for the long haul.
How has being a member of RASCW benefited you?
The resources and wealth of knowledge from RASCW has helped me grow as a Realtor®, and has provided important information for my business and clients. In a business with many opinions and personal preferences, it’s always been a pillar of support to refer to data and information supplied by RASCW!
How are you involved and making a difference in your community?
Something unexpected when getting into real estate was how charitable this community of professionals is! First Weber leads me in inspiration to be involved in the community and give back wherever we can. My proudest contribution, both personal and funded by my real estate career, has been providing support to the Madison homeless community. As someone who finds so much joy in helping people buy and sell homes, helping those without a home is dear to my heart.
If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, alive or not, who would it be?
My great grandparents. As I age I would love nothing more than to take back some time and chat about all of the amazing things they did to provide the life and lessons passed down to me.
Outside of work, what makes you happy?
Arts and crafts! I belong to a talented group of crafty women who get together quarterly to set aside time for our love of crafting. My latest project was an acrylic canvas painting to decorate my home. I also love to ski, go hiking with my husband, Justin, and our dog Enzo. Generally spending time with my dear friends and family!
